Sunset on the marshes

Another week has flown by and summer is on its way out. Tomorrow is the first day of autumm although it will be a while before we see much relief in the temperature down this way.

On the tech front, the release of iOS 6 for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches has generated a lot of discussion related to the changes and new features included with the OS.

Twitter also kicked off a new design this week which includes custom headers. Website Magazine has a quick tutorial on how to update yours. Have to say I pretty much agree with their opinion of the change . . . Meh.

Lifehacker had a great article this week discussing password manager apps. As the need for more secure passwords grows – and different ones for every site you visit – these apps can truly make your life a lot easier. They are well worth the price (and there’s even an open source option mentioned in the article).

Another must-read article on security – Facebook security this time – comes from ReadWriteWeb. I highly recommend following these steps to protect yourself.

Have you taken a look at Wikipedia’s new ebook export feature yet? You can collect a number of articles across the Wikipedia platform and Wikipedia will convert them into an ePub, PDF or OpenOffice document for you. Now you can carry useful reference material with you on your mobile device. TheNextWeb has details on how it works.

Dropbox for iOS got an update this week which includes Facebook and Twitter sharing as well as AirPrint functionality.

With Fall on its way, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas gifts. One of my favorite scrapbook designers, Liz at paislee press, has just introduced a delightful set of calendar templates with ideas for turning them into great gifts. By the way, those two adorable beauties used in her examples are her daughters.

Over at Moultrie Creek Books, you can now find your favorite family history magazines in digital format. Details here.
